Review by Jahongiri Sulton

Hold On, the album by Rupert's People, is a delightful collection of psychedelic pop songs that showcases the band's talent for crafting catchy melodies and intricate arrangements. From the opening track "Hold On" to the closing number "I Can Show You", the album takes the listener on a journey through a kaleidoscope of sounds and emotions.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Reflections of Charles Brown", a haunting ballad that features beautiful harmonies and a melancholic atmosphere. Another highlight is "Dreams of a Young Girl", a whimsical tune that captures the innocence and wonder of youth.

Throughout the album, the band's musicianship is on full display, with intricate guitar work, lively percussion, and lush orchestration. The production is also top-notch, with a warm and vibrant sound that brings out the best in each song.

"Reflections of Charles Brown" by Rupert's People came from a talented group with deep roots. I first heard it by a British group who sang it in 1969 in Lebanon, and since then it let something inside... It gives me a lot of joy to hear it every once a while like 'Whiter Shade of Pale'

Rod is still making music and inventing things!
I have only ever seen the normal copies with the correct labels. I did an interview with Rod at his flat (if memory is correct) close to Surburton station in 1977 for a fanzine I was planning - still in the loft . He gave me his badge for Ruperts People. I had a gold disc of Refections Of Charles Brown made and sent it to him to arrive on the 7th of July 1977 (the 10th anniversay of the record release).
Nice guy. 'Reflections' is one of my fave records of all time.

It was only the demo copies that were wrong. Rod may have had a flat close to Surburton Station in 1977 but his mother's flat was in Stroud Green North London. If you look at the photo on my video clip, that's where it was. That was a great gift to give: I wonder if he kept it. He has now move to the South Coast and we still keep in touch.

Thank you for this, and getting it right!!
Great tune. Saw Rod at the British Inventor Show a few years ago, where he played a brilliant track called Chasing Aces. Tune still remains in my head.
