Having played together since 1993 (initially as ), the earliest Donnas releases (on Radio X and Super*Teem) were as a garage rock side-project of their main band ; after moving to Lookout! the Donnas kept aspects of the concept, but moved in their own direction as a rock & roll band, signing to Atlantic in 2001.
